BEARS BACK ON COURSE

REDCAR moved back into the play-off places with a 53-37 win over Berwick at the Ecco Arena.

The Bears’ heat-leaders were all in high-scoring form with Lewis Kerr (13), Erik Riss (12) and Charles Wright (10+1) leading the way.

Chris Harris scored 8+1 for the Bandits and recent recruit Jonas Knudsen added eight, but they remain bottom of the table.

Berwick boss Gary Flint said: “I really don’t think that the scoreline reflects our efforts, but in the end mechanical problems cost both Bomber and Leon (Flint) when it hurt most.

“Theo (Pijper) had a bizarre night when he could quite easily have doubled his final tally but Jonas again showed why we worked so hard to bring him to this country and why he has already got people talking about his potential.”
