UPGRADE FOR BANDITS

BERWICK have undertaken winter track improvements including the moving back of the start line at Shielfield Park by around five metres.

The line has been relocated in order to increase the length of the run to the first bend as the Bandits look to further improve the quality of racing, following significant track widening work in recent years.

Promoter Steve Dews told berwickspeedway.com: “We are always looking to make tweaks and improvements which will give the riders all they need to entertain our spectators on a Saturday night.

“After talking to some very experienced riders and track curators we have gone ahead with the switch this winter.

“It’s a small change and probably won’t register with people in the stadium or watching on BanditsTV, but it will subtly change things for the riders and especially make for more even starts.”

The club have also carried out extensive maintenance to their Polyfoam barrier, installed in 2012, and have replaced the boarding behind the safety feature with a mesh fence.
