TIGERS SNATCH LAST GASP WIN
GLASGOW took control of the Scottish section of the BSN Series with a dramatic 46-44 win at rivals Edinburgh on Friday.
The Tigers have now won both of their away matches in the group, with their visit to Armadale going to the last heat as the lead repeatedly changed hands between the sides.
Dan Thompson and Kyle Howarth were the Heat 15 heroes with a 5-1 over home duo Justin Sedgmen and Paco Castagna, and it also saw Thompson complete a stunning 14+1 paid maximum.
Howarth added 12+1 for the visitors whilst Leon Flint (8+1) snatched a crucial second place in Heat 14. Victor Palovaara top-scored for the Monarchs with 10+2.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “I’m obviously over the moon. To win here is special but to do it twice in three weeks is an extra nice start to the season.
“Dan has been sensational so far since signing for us. To come here and get a maximum is outstanding.
“But I was equally delighted with the performances from Leon Flint and Ashton Boughen. They did a great job, and the engine room of our side was so solid.”
Castagna said: “It was a very narrow loss, a Heat 15 loss is never nice, but I think the team showed what they can do tonight.
“It is a ‘young’ team which hasn’t been together long. I think not long ago we won at Glasgow, so we’ll see what is possible, I have faith in what’s coming!”
