TIGERS LEAD BSN SEMI – JUST!
GLASGOW had to settle for a narrow two-point advantage at the halfway stage of their BSN Series semi-final clash with Redcar after a thrilling first leg encounter.
The Tigers won 46-44 at Ashfield on Friday in a meeting which the Bears led by four points at the halfway stage with the home side never able to extend any margin of lead.
It took two 4-2s in the closing stages for Glasgow to get back ahead with Leon Flint and Freddy Hodder levelling the scores in Heat 14 before Chris Harris and Villads Nagel edged the hosts to a win on the night in Heat 15.
Harris scored 11+1 for the Tigers whilst Charles Wright top scored for the Bears with 11. The scheduled second leg at the ECCO Arena on Saturday has been postponed due to a horrendous weather forecast.
Glasgow manager Cami Brown said: “That was a fierce battle and I’m proud of the boys for showing so much fighting spirit to get the win.
“We would have liked a bigger lead to take to Redcar for the second leg. But I believe we are just as good at their place to get a result and reach the Final.
“We were a bit sluggish early on and that cost us a bit probably. I think being away from Ashfield for three weeks meant we were a bit rusty on the set-ups and especially out of the starts.
“But the boys really dug in late on to get the win. Redcar are an excellent side and perhaps the most in-form in the Championship right now.”
