THOMSON BLOW FOR MONARCHS
EDINBURGH’S Kye Thomson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after a crash in Sweden on Monday.
Thomson has shattered a bone in his hand and broken a scaphoid, which is a second blow for the Monarchs after Justin Sedgmen also saw his 2024 campaign come to an end when he was hurt last week.
Said Thomson: “The scaphoid is the real long-healing bone, it takes 10-12 weeks to heal. It’s all on the left-hand side. I’ve got to give the X-Rays to the hospital here to see if I need an operation on the other bone.
“A rider wouldn’t accept that I was coming up the inside of me, and he just kept turning and leaning on me until our bikes got tangled.
“I couldn’t have tried to avoid him any more, I was trying to stay off him but he just kept turning. I’m gutted that I’ve finished for the season, I’ll be at the track on Friday.”
