SEDGMEN SIDELINED

JUSTIN Sedgmen is facing at least three weeks out of action after his involvement in a multiple pile-up at Armadale on Friday.

Sedgmen was brought down in a first-turn incident involving all four riders in Heat 4 of Edinburgh’s Cab Direct Championship clash with Workington and was taken to hospital with concussion and knee damage.

He said: “Both the head scan and X-ray on the knee came back all clear, but I’ll have to get an MRI on my knee once the swelling goes down as I can’t put any weight on it.

“I was unconscious for some time and been advised I’ll be out for three weeks minimum.

“Also thanks to Troy (Batchelor) for taking avoiding action, which ended up hurting him. This goes unnoticed a lot! I’m lucky it was you on my outside.”

Sedgmen’s injury is also a blow for Birmingham in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership, with the Brummies booking their former rider Zach Cook to guest against Sheffield on Monday.
