SCORPIONS EDGE OPENING VICTORY

SCUNTHORPE won a BSN Series thriller against Redcar 46-44 – despite providing just three of the 15 race winners on the day.

One of those victories came courtesy of Jake Allen in the crucial Heat 15 when he held back Charles Wright and the previously unbeaten Danny King to ensure the result for the Scorpions.

The home side were far more solid as they ran just three last places, whilst the Bears’ heat leader trio of Wright, King and Riss bagged ten wins between them.

Allen scored 8+3 for the Scorpions with Steve Worrall on nine, and home debutant Declan Kennedy notched eight. King (14), Wright (12+1) and Riss (9) dominated the visitors’ scoring.
