SCORPIONS CHASE CUP FINAL PLACE

SCUNTHORPE skipper Simon Lambert says attack will be the best form of defence as they look to book a place in the Championship KO Cup Final.

The Scorpions defeated Redcar 54-36 at home last week and will look to finish the job at the ECCO Arena on Friday to set up a showdown with Poole for the silverware.

Lambert said: “We’ve got a decent lead to take to Redcar. But it means nothing if we don’t finish the job.

“It’s only half time – we know they’re going to want to come back at us and push us all the way.

“But we won’t go there on Friday trying to defend a lead. We’re going there to try to win the meeting, because that’s the way you always have to approach it. Also it would put out a statement to Poole – we owe them one, for sure.”
