SCORPIONS AIM TO BE STRONGER

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says he faced tough decisions over 2025 team building – but believes his side will be stronger next season.

The Scorpions reached the Cab Direct Championship play-offs this year, losing out to Oxford in the semi-finals, with Kyle Howarth, Michael Palm Toft and Nathan Ablitt now departing the club as Steve Worrall and the Kennedy brothers, Zaine and Declan, come in.

Godfrey said: “Anyone who knows me knows I’m very loyal to people, and they all want to come back.

“It was only Kyle who didn’t want to return because he said he wanted a track nearer to home after becoming a new father, so we respected that.

“It was impossible, with the points the team increased by last year, to keep everyone. We had to pull it apart and put something together that we believe is stronger throughout, and I believe we’ve done that with the way we’ve gone.”
