RISS THE WRIGHT MOVE

REDCAR skipper Charles Wright says the return of German star Erik Riss is a major boost to the Bears’ chances of silverware this season.

Riss completes a power-packed heat-leader trio on Teesside along with Wright and Danny King as he returns to regular Cab Direct Championship racing after missing out last year.

Wright accepts the Bears’ slow start to the 2024 campaign was the main reason for them missing out on the play-offs for the first time in six years, and he’s confident of better this time around.

He said: “I took it to heart more, especially when I had an off-night. When I sat back and looked back, I was doing everything I could, but looking ahead we have three strong heat-leaders and I am looking forward to an exciting campaign.

“Having Erik back balances the team and if our three heat-leaders can perform, it takes the pressure off the rest of the side. Erik is a top rider, and he can help us enormously.

“Danny is an out and out No.1, his hand is now fixed and make no mistake, he’s a class rider.”
