RAIN STOPS PLAY AT ARMADALE

EDINBURGH and Glasgow will have to do it again after the Scottish derby was abandoned due to the weather before a result could be reached.

The Monarchs led 25-16 after seven races but with rain returning it was not possible to take the match to a conclusion.

Paco Castagna was unbeaten for the hosts with two wins from two rides, a feat matched by Tigers guest Anders Rowe. The two had been due to meet in Heat 9 but a halt had been called by then.

Castagna said: “I can’t get my head around the Scottish weather. We unloaded the van in the sunshine, then there was rain, then sun then rain.

“It was a shame because we were in a good spot but conditions were getting a little bit too dangerous.”
