PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v OXFORD (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

WORKINGTON are chasing a return to top home form when they host Oxford at the GT Tyres Arena today (Saturday).

The Comets were beaten by Redcar in their last outing in Cumbria, whilst their recent away matches have included narrow defeats at both of the top two.

A strong second half of their schedule could still see them launch a play-off challenge, whilst for their opponents it is a crucial fixture after the Cheetahs lost at home to Redcar on Wednesday.

Peter Schroeck’s side urgently require another away win to remain in contention, and they are boosted by the return from injury of Jordan Jenkins whilst rider replacement is in operation for Francis Gusts who is racing in the GP Challenge.

Comets boss James Denham said: “We’ll be looking to take control from Heat 1. Oxford are a dangerous side, but we’re more than capable of putting them under pressure across the board.

“We’ve got the firepower, and we’ve got the strength, now it’s time to turn performances into points.”

Schroeck said: “As Mitch (McDiarmid), Luke (Killeen) and Jonas (Knudsen) can all take (Gusts’s) rides I am confident that they will deliver more points than any of the available guests.

“If everyone gets behind us, I am confident we can push ourselves into the top four again.”
