PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v PLYMOUTH (Cab Direct KO Cup)

SCUNTHORPE kick off their defence of the Cab Direct KO Cup with a first-round clash against Plymouth at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).

The Scorpions collected the silverware with a great effort over Poole in last year’s Final and now look to take the first step towards retaining the silverware.

The hosts are unchanged from their win over Redcar in the BSN Series last week, whilst the Gladiators are racing for the first time this season with Anders Rowe guesting for the injured Nico Covatti.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I don’t want to blow any trumpets at this stage, but we believe we have got the ingredients for a trophy-winning team. We just need to keep it going, stay safe and put some more results on the board.

“Against Plymouth, we begin the defence of the Knockout Cup. That’s a new one, we’ve never said that before!

“We need a good positive result from the first leg, so that we can complete the job when we go down to the Plymouth for the second leg.”

SCUNTHORPE: Kyle Howarth, Connor Mountain, Simon Lambert, Michael Palm Toft, Jake Allen, Nathan Ablitt, Luke Harrison.
PLYMOUTH: Anders Rowe, Alfie Bowtell, Dan Thompson, Kyle Newman, Ben Barker, Joe Thompson, Jacob Hook.
SCB Referee: Michael Breckon
