PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v GLASGOW (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

SCUNTHORPE and Glasgow are both looking to build on positive recent results when they clash in a mouthwatering Cab Direct Championship fixture at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).

The Scorpions slammed Berwick on their home circuit last week and they name an unchanged side, with rider replacement again in operation for Luke Harrison who is away on FIM Speedway of Nations 2 duty in the Czech Republic.

The corresponding fixture last season ended 45-45 after 15 races, and the Tigers return with former Scorpion Kyle Howarth in their ranks, whilst Jack Smith guests for Mario Hausl who is also racing in Prague.

They have won their last two home matches to make a solid start to league business, but boss Cami Brown says they still need to step things up.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Glasgow will be tougher opposition at the Eddie Wright Raceway than Berwick, but we are expecting the same again from our boys as last week. If we ride like that again, we will win.

“Glasgow bring some big guns with them in the likes of Chris Harris, former Scorpion Kyle Howarth and Leon Flint but we’ve got Josh Pickering now, while Michael Palm Toft has hit some form now and is backing up Josh well.”

Brown said: “It’s going to be a super-tough meeting for us, there’s no doubt. Scunthorpe strengthened their side last week and smashed Berwick heavily. 

“We are certainly going to need to find something really special to get the result we want. It’s fair to say we need to improve.

“Our top three will need to be at their very best and we can get the job done.”
