PREVIEW: REDCAR v SCUNTHORPE (BSN)

REDCAR hand a debut to new signing Nicolai Klindt as they face Scunthorpe in the BSN Series at the Ecco Arena tonight (Friday).

The Bears are the holders of the competition but they were beaten 50-40 in the reverse fixture at the Eddie Wright Raceway last weekend.

That came less than 48 hours after skipper Charles Wright had crashed out of their opening home meeting against the Newcastle Select, suffering shoulder injuries which led to the move for Klindt.

Redcar manager Gavin Parr said: “The first few heats at the Eddie Wright Raceway were familiar to us as we just could not match the hosts in those races.

“However, if you look at the match after Heat 5 we actually outscored the Scorpions by four points, so there were positives to be taken from the meeting.

“We must make sure we bring positive vibes to the track tonight and collect our first win of the season.”

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Our performance on Sunday was very encouraging. The minimum we want from our visit to Redcar is the aggregate point, but there’s no reason why we can’t win the meeting – that will certainly be our aim.”
