PREVIEW: REDCAR v SCUNTHORPE (BSN SERIES)

REDCAR host Scunthorpe at the ECCO Arena in the Northern group of the BSN Series tonight (Friday) one week on from a tight contest in the reverse fixture.

The Scorpions held on for a 46-44 home victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway despite providing only three race wins, and they have a strong recent record on their trips to Teesside.

Ace Pijper returns at reserve for the hosts after missing last week’s fixture due to international duty, and the visitors are at full strength including several former Bears riders.

Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “46-44 was one of our best performances at Scunthorpe for a while. We had 12 heat winners; however, we had 12 last places and I came away a little disappointed with the defeat, but there were positive signs.

“It’s imperative that we win at home and win well, and we need to win by more than two points to get the aggregate point, which will be vital to our qualification chances.”

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Redcar are highly fancied this season, and as the Good Friday meeting demonstrated last week, they do have a powerful heat-leader trio.

“We have a much more solid side, while a lot of our riders do enjoy riding around Redcar, since it is a very good racetrack. It doesn’t seem to matter where the meeting takes place, clashes between Scunthorpe and Redcar are always closely contested, and we’ll head up there with a positive frame of mind.”

REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jake Mulford, Jason Edwards, Danny King, Erik Riss, Tom Spencer, Ace Pijper.

SCUNTHORPE: Steve Worrall, Luke Harrison, Simon Lambert, Connor Mountain, Jake Allen, Declan Kennedy, Zaine Kennedy.

SCB Referee: Wayne Jarvis
