POSTPONED: REDCAR v BIRMINGHAM (BSN SERIES)
SATURDAY’S scheduled BSN Series match at the ECCO Arena between Redcar and Birmingham has been postponed because of a waterlogged track. A new date will follow in due course.
REDCAR host Birmingham in the BSN Series at the ECCO Arena tonight (Saturday) with the Brummies racing for the first time this season.
The Bears, who lost their opener at Scunthorpe, have mixed news on the injury front as reserve Jake Mulford is fit to return, but No.1 Erik Riss is still ruled out, with Steve Worrall coming in to guest.
The visitors are without winter signing James Wright due to a shoulder injury, with Zach Cook guesting in his place.
Redcar manager Gavin Parr said: “People have labelled Birmingham as a ‘pushover’ but I certainly do not see that from looking at their side, and they have got some really good riders who ride the ECCO Arena superbly.
“Moreover, Nick Morris entertained everyone when visiting with Leicester last season and he is a classy rider, Stefan Nielsen is also impressive and they have two four-point reserves, they are not being taken lightly!”
Brummies boss Laurence Rogers said: “Redcar have built a very solid team this year with a strong top order in particular.
“But our top end is just as good as theirs with Nick and Sedgy (Justin Sedgmen), and there’s no reason why they can’t get the better of the likes of Danny (King) and Charles (Wright).
“We know Redcar will be one of the tougher trips of the year, but it’s a good fair racetrack more often than not and the boys will be going out there and giving it their all.”
REDCAR: Steve Worrall, Connor Bailey, Charles Wright, Danyon Hume, Danny King, Jason Edwards, Jake Mulford.
BIRMINGHAM: Nick Morris, Alfie Bowtell, Zach Cook, Stefan Nielsen, Justin Sedgmen, Ty Proctor, James Pearson.
