PREVIEW: POOLE v OXFORD (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

POOLE will secure their Cab Direct Championship play-off place if they avoid defeat at home to Oxford tonight (Wednesday).

The league leaders are three points clear at the top and will be confident of extending their 100 per cent home record against a Cheetahs side who are wrapping up their campaign.

Poole return to full strength with Richard Lawson back at No.1 and Kyle Newman declared fit to race, whilst Oxford bring in Mitchell Cluff as they have a reduced facility to cover for the absent Erik Riss.

Cheetahs No.1 Sam Masters has recently made two high-scoring appearances as a guest in Pirates colours whilst Lawson was missing.

Co-promoter Dan Ford said: “He only dropped three points in ten rides, so there is a warning sign for Wednesday as he will be on the other side of the pits.

“I am sure our fans will be keen to see Slater [Lightcap] again. He had his first sight of the place last week and five points wasn’t a bad debut.

“He is a rider that seems to grow with confidence the more he rides a track, but there will be no pressure on him.”
