POSTPONED: POOLE v LEICESTER (CJL FINAL)
FRIDAY’S scheduled Championship Jubilee Final at Wimborne Road between Poole and Leicester has been postponed because of a waterlogged track. A new date will be announced in due course.
POOLE are seeking some consolation after missing out on silverware this month as they host Leicester in the Championship Jubilee League Final tonight (Friday).
The Pirates were beaten in both the league Grand Final and KO Cup Final, although they did secure the BSN Series trophy earlier this summer.
Captain Steve Worrall and Anders Rowe are both set to make their final appearances as both have confirmed they will be on the move this winter, whilst the visitors are led by Chris Harris and include current Lions team members Drew Kemp and Jake Allen.
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “It is always hard to finish as runners-up, even more so when it happens at home, and whilst we are feeling the hurt of not being league or cup champions any more I think we have to reflect on what we have achieved throughout the season, a season which sadly went all wrong for us in October.
“We qualified for the Finals of all three competitions, we were top of the regular league campaign and top of our BSN group the latter of which, of course, we went on to win.
“So if we can just finish it off by winning this long-awaited Jubilee Final, which of course has been carried over from last season, then it would be some small consolation.”
