PREVIEW: OXFORD v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

OXFORD boss Peter Schroeck insists a win over Redcar at Cowley tonight (Wednesday) would enable his side to commence a climb up the Cab Direct Championship table.

The Cheetahs have endured a tough week with a home loss to Glasgow followed up by back-to-back away defeats against the Bears and then Plymouth, having held a clear lead in both meetings.

The aggregate point is at stake tonight with Redcar’s comeback last Friday having seen them take a dramatic 46-44 victory.

Oxford operate rider replacement for Edward Kennett who is serving a mandatory suspension for illness, whilst Redcar track Danny King as a guest at No.1 with Nicolai Klindt away racing in Denmark.

Schroeck said: “We know it is all about winning meetings. That’s what I’m employed for – it’s what the riders are employed for.

“I don’t want to say ‘we put in a good performance and we were close’; I want to say ‘we put in a good performance and we pulled off the win’. At the same time, I’m not going to hammer the boys if I can see they are putting everything into their racing.

“At the end of the day, there are two outcomes – you win or you lose. A lot of supporters are judging us by results and we know that.

“But we haven’t given up on the season yet – far from it. The past is the past and we’ll move on. Nothing is lost yet. We want to turn our season around, starting by taking all three points against Redcar and start to push ourselves up the league table.”
