PREVIEW: OXFORD v POOLE (BSN SERIES)

OXFORD host Poole in the BSN Series tonight (Wednesday, 8pm) with the winners set to go to the top of the group.

It’s the final fixture in the Southern section for the Cheetahs, who lost 61-29 in the reverse match at Wimborne Road, whilst a win for the Pirates would put them in control ahead of their meetings with Plymouth.

Both sides are at full strength with Zach Cook fit to resume for the visitors after crashing out at Berwick on Saturday.

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “We will certainly be looking to get one over the Pirates. There is a keen rivalry between the two clubs and our clashes are always well attended.

“Pride is at stake and Poole have much more to lose than we do, so our boys can enjoy the evening and we’ll do everything we can to beat the Pirates.”

Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “Oxford is a tough place to go, and I feel certain that they will have some extra fight in them after the Good Friday trouncing we gave them at Wimborne Road.

“But there is a lot of heart and passion in our side this year and we proved in our last two meetings that we will never just roll over.

“Obviously we want to win as many matches as we can, but then again every team will have that desire, so the priority will be to make sure we first of all secure the aggregate point and then push on to hopefully make the trip even more fruitful.”

OXFORD: Sam Masters, Henry Atkins, Cameron Heeps, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Ashton Boughen, Luke Killeen.
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Tom Brennan, Zach Cook, Ben Cook, Sam Hagon, Max Perry.
SCB Referee: Dave Watters
