POSTPONED: OXFORD v POOLE (BSN SERIES)
OXFORD’S home match against Poole in the BSN Series on Wednesday has been postponed due to a waterlogged track. A new date is to be confirmed.
OXFORD Cheetahs bid to bounce back from a heavy opening-night defeat when they host Poole in the BSN Series tonight (Wednesday).
The Pirates won the reverse fixture 61-29 on Good Friday, which is already a big result in the context of the three-team group also featuring Plymouth.
Both teams are unchanged in personnel from that initial encounter and Cheetahs boss Peter Schroeck says his side need to put the loss at Wimborne Road firmly behind them.
Schroeck said: “Friday is behind us now. We’ve moved on, and our focus is on a big first home meeting of the season for the Cheetahs.
“All the boys built a really strong rapport with our supporters, so starting the season with seven riders who have all previously represented Cheetahs is a real plus for us.
“We hope to use that track knowledge to our advantage against a Poole side which will be brimming with confidence and determined to complete the double.”
Pirates manager Neil Middleditch said: “I think they will be out to return the favour and we will see a very different performance from Oxford than we witnessed in Friday’s opener.
“But the way things went for us, if we ride like that, then I can’t see them turning us over as we did to them. We will be going there full of confidence.”
