PREVIEW: OXFORD v PLYMOUTH (BSN SERIES)

OXFORD face Plymouth in a crunch BSN Series clash at Cowley tonight (Wednesday) as the losing side will face likely elimination from the competition.

The Cheetahs need a home win to keep their hopes alive, although they face a big task for the aggregate point after a 25-point defeat at the Coliseum in the reverse fixture.

That points difference could leave the Gladiators in a promising position if they could add an away win,  especially as the best group runners-up reach the semi-finals.

Oxford are again without Erik Riss due to illness, with Nick Morris coming in as guest, whilst Slovenian racer Anze Grmek makes his debut for the visitors.

Cheetahs boss Peter Schroeck said: “We will chase the aggregate point against Plymouth, but it’s a win that is a must.

“Plymouth are a good side, led by two very experienced and talented campaigners in Danny King and our old friend Scott Nicholls, so it’s going to be another very entertaining meeting.

“All we can do is concentrate on ourselves and make sure that we click as a team, as we did last week against Poole, when the boys put in a fantastic performance as a unit.”

Gladiators manager Garry May said: “It’s a big week for us with a lot on the line. We’re in a good position in the BSN Series, but we know it’s not done yet and we need to approach it the right way.”
