PREVIEW: OXFORD v PLYMOUTH (BSN Series)
OXFORD Cheetahs race their first home fixture of the season tonight (Wednesday) as they host Plymouth in the BSN Series.
It’s already effectively a must-win for the hosts, who lost heavily at Poole in their group opener, whilst the Gladiators also had a tough night on the road at Scunthorpe in the Cab Direct KO Cup.
The visitors bring in Zach Cook to guest for the injured Nico Covatti, with captain Ben Barker set to race after crashing out last week.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “We were all disappointed by our performance away to Poole last month. But we’ve moved on and channelled our focus back this fixture against Plymouth.
“The BSN Series is a cut-throat competition where one aggregate defeat makes it very hard to qualify automatically. So we have to target a big home win against Plymouth to give ourselves every chance of reaching the semi-finals.
“Track time has been hard to come by for the team because of the poor weather. But everyone has been keeping themselves busy with responsibilities elsewhere, so I’m not concerned about being race ready.
“Plymouth have one away meeting under their belt and will be wanting to bounce back, so we’ll prepare accordingly and relish the challenge as always.”
OXFORD: Sam Masters, Henry Atkins, Cameron Heeps, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Ashton Boughen, Luke Killeen.
