PREVIEW: OXFORD v GLASGOW (Cab Direct Champ)
UNBEATEN rivals Oxford and Glasgow go head-to-head at Cowley tonight (Wednesday) in the Cab Direct Championship’s match of the season so far.
Something has to give in the clash of the top two, with the Cheetahs going into the meeting having won all nine of their league matches, whilst the Tigers made it six on the trot when they were successful at Birmingham last week.
Oxford bring in Rory Schlein to guest for the injured Lewis Kerr – and boss Peter Schroeck is determined to see his side continue their stunning run of form.
Schroeck said: “Glasgow have been in outstanding form in the league this season. They’re the in-form team, which only adds to the excitement for the supporters and ourselves before the meeting starts.
“Glasgow’s blend of youth and experience can be dangerous but we’re equally capable, and we have that all important home track advantage which we must use in our favour.
“One thing we can guarantee is no team will want to end the night with an ‘L’ next to their name. This is about making a statement to the rest of the division that the Cheetahs are on a mission this season following our regeneration.
“We’re grateful to Rory Schlein for stepping in for Lewis Kerr who continues to recover from his collarbone injury. The racing will be fierce and we’ll need our supporters behind the boys again if we’re to keep this 100 per cent record going.”
OXFORD: Sam Masters, Henry Atkins, Rory Schlein, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Cameron Heeps, Ryan Kinsley.
GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Marcin Nowak, Tom Brennan, Claus Vissing, Benjamin Basso, Lee Complin, Ace Pijper.
