PREVIEW: GLASGOW v SCUNTHORPE (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

PLAY-OFF qualifiers Glasgow and Scunthorpe clash tonight (Friday) in a meeting which will resolve second place in the Cab Direct Championship table.

The sides are already guaranteed to meet in the semi-finals and the outcome of their regular league match will determine which club has choice of order of legs.

The Tigers require all three points to overhaul their opponents, whilst the aggregate point would be sufficient for the Scorpions who take a 49-41 advantage into the meeting.

Glasgow bring in Dan Thompson to guest for the retired Kyle Howarth and Anders Rowe replaces skipper Chris Harris, who is en route to the second round of the Long Track World Championship. Max Perry replaces the injured Mario Hausl, whilst new averages for September see Leon Flint move to No.1.

Scunthorpe have Reid Battye guesting for the injured Jacob Hook, whilst Jordan Jenkins replaces Luke Harrison who is competing in Saturday’s European Under-19 Final in Krsko.

Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “It’s a quirk of the fixtures that we now have the Scorpions three times in quick succession and face them in the Cab Direct Championship semi-finals. 

“The first job is to make sure we win the meeting and then the aggregate point. That will mean we finish second in the table. That will give us a choice of legs for the semi-final. 

“The key area for us is getting the right guests and that Sam (Hagon) and Freddy (Hodder) find some solid scoring.”

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’d like to finish second in the table. It would equal our second place of 2012, and, of course, that season we went on to become league champions.

“We’ll approach the meeting like any other and try to win it, but we know the aggregate point would be enough.

“It’s also an important night for our lads to dial themselves into the Glasgow track. It will certainly give the Tigers food for thought if we prove highly competitive up there.”
