PREVIEW: GLASGOW v POOLE (Cab Direct Champ)
GLASGOW and Poole clash in a crucial Cab Direct Championship fixture at Ashfield tonight (Sunday, 6pm) with both sides still chasing top spot.
The Tigers have 14 points and the Pirates are on 13, some way behind leaders Oxford but with four matches in hand after the Cheetahs were beaten at Redcar on Friday.
It’s a repeat of the recent BSN Series Final between the clubs where Poole took the silverware, although Glasgow won their home leg 48-42.
The home side are forced into two changes at reserve with Connor Coles guesting for Lee Complin as the latter celebrates his wedding, whilst Sam Hagon replaces Ace Pijper due to Under-19 duty in Slovakia.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It’s a huge task for the boys against Poole again. It was a strong result to beat them in the second leg of the BSN Final.
“But they will return with fresh knowledge of the track and feel they can get a win. They are always a dangerous side and all the boys will need to bring their A game.
“The boys still haven’t all fired on the same night at any time this season. I think we will need to find something special on Sunday evening. But we are capable of doing that and I’m confident we will.”
Pirates star Richard Lawson said: “”I believe we have more in us. We knew what we needed to do in the BSN Final, we had that big lead after doing the hard work down at Poole and I am not saying we weren’t trying, but it was really a case of just getting it over the line.
“Nevertheless we pushed them on the night and were always in touch with them. When it comes to going for the league points on Sunday I feel that we have an extra gear.”
GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Marcin Nowak, Benjamin Basso, Claus Vissing, Tom Brennan, Connor Coles, Sam Hagon.
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Anders Rowe, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Steve Worrall, Kyle Newman, Adam Roynon.
