PREVIEW: GLASGOW v OXFORD (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
GLASGOW boss Cami Brown wants the Cab Direct Championship leaders to return home with a bang when they face Oxford tonight (Friday).
The Tigers are racing at Ashfield for the first time in seven weeks having suffered two recent rain-offs, but they have done impressive work on the road with wins in the reverse fixture at Cowley, and also at Workington.
They face a Cheetahs side looking to lift themselves up the table during a weekend northern tour which also takes in a visit to Berwick on Saturday.
Glasgow are without Kyle Howarth after a crash on Thursday, with Dan Thompson coming in to guest at No.1. They also bring in Vinnie Foord to guest for Mario Hausl who is racing in the German national championship, whilst Max Perry stands in for Mitch McDiarmid (Polish commitment) for the visitors.
Brown said: “We’ve just got to keep building on the two excellent away results. There are now a run of home meetings on the bounce in July. We need to win them all to stay in that top four of the table. I want us to come back to Ashfield with a bang.
“The boys have really stepped it up over the past two or three weeks. I felt we had an extra level once every rider clicked on the same night and that has been the case.
“But that means nothing at the moment. We need to stay in the top four of the league table. Every point is going to count over the next two months.”
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “Our approach this weekend is no different to any other meetings. We’ll take it one step at a time and our first task is to put up a good account of ourselves at Glasgow.”
