PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v WORKINGTON (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
EDINBURGH are looking to overcome the threat posed by their former favourite Craig Cook when Workington visit Armadale tonight (Friday).
Monarchs boss Alex Harkess admits he is frustrated by his side’s inconsistency, and tonight Cook leads a Comets side who are currently in the top four of the Cab Direct Championship.
The home side are at full strength, whilst the visitors operate rider replacement for the injured Tate Zischke.
Harkess said: “It’s strange but every time I have gone to Armadale this year thinking ‘This is going to be a tough night’, then we’ve won. But on the two nights I’ve gone to Armadale believing that we should win, we’ve lost. I don’t know why that is.
“Workington have a very strong top two. We know all about Craig Cook more than anybody, what he will score who knows.
“Hopefully our top two will compete with their top two and we’ll be OK. We know what Craig is capable of and he has been doing very well this year, so full marks to him.”
Comets boss James Denham said: “Friday will be tough but we have leaders and experience in our team with Cookie, Troy (Batchelor) and Claus (Vissing).
“Craig obviously spent a number of years up there as their talisman and is fantastic around there, but also Claus has ridden for Edinburgh as well.
“We have to believe we can go up there and win even with the inexperience in some of our riders. A win and the aggregate point will be three massive points as we just sit inside the top four play-off places at the moment.”
EDINBURGH: Josh Pickering, Kye Thomson, Lasse Fredriksen, Paco Castagna, Justin Sedgmen, Max James, Connor Coles.
WORKINGTON: Craig Cook, Tate Zischke, Antti Vuolas, Claus Vissing, Troy Batchelor, Celina Liebmann, Sam McGurk.
