PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
EDINBURGH host Redcar in a vital Cab Direct Championship encounter tonight (Friday) where the result will almost certainly have play-off implications.
The Monarchs are third in the table and a win would help defend that position, but they can expect a challenge from the Bears who go into the meeting in fifth place, one point behind, but in fine form after their success last weekend.
The aggregate point is also a significant factor, with Redcar taking an eight-point advantage to Armadale from their recent win at the ECCO Arena.
The visitors make two changes as Ace Pijper is ruled out with concussion, and they bring in Vinnie Foord – who races for Edinburgh’s NDL team – as a guest, whilst operating rider replacement for Simon Lambert who is out with a speedway injury.
Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “It will be very important that our reserves can get something. Redcar have been a bit inconsistent, and I believe our numbers 1 to 5 are more than capable of winning the match.
“We’ve just got to stop their reserves from keeping them in it! Hopefully our reserves will get a few points and that will make the difference.
“Winning by more than eight to get the aggregate point is the target, and if we don’t I’ll be very disappointed.”
