PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v GLASGOW (MAXiCAB KO CUP)

EDINBURGH and Glasgow clash in their third competition this season already as they meet in the MAXiCab KO Cup quarter-finals starting at Armadale tonight (Friday).

The Monarchs have suffered two narrow home defeats to the Tigers so far in 2025 but found form on their own circuit with a thumping win over Workington last week.

With new signing Michael Palm Toft not eligible until June averages come into effect, Edinburgh continue with rider replacement for Oskar Polis who quit the club earlier this month.

Meanwhile Glasgow have brought in Drew Kemp, a rider with a strong Armadale record, to guest for the injured Dan Thompson. He previously scored a 12-point maximum when standing in for the Tigers at Plymouth.

Monarchs captain Paco Castagna said: “It is all about being focused from the first race to the last. It is crucial to score every point, so no-one will be experimenting or changing anything during the meeting like they maybe would in another match if the team is far ahead or anything like that, but we always try to keep the same mentality in general.

“Coming into the meeting though, we feel confident after the Workington matches and we need to take this into the Glasgow matches. It is a two-leg match and anything can happen.”

Tigers boss Cami Brown said: “Drew knows the place well having previously been an Edinburgh rider. We feel he is the right man for the job, and I know he’ll give us 100 per cent.

“It’s obviously a big KO Cup tie for the club. Our record in the competition hasn’t been great since we won it in 2016. But we want to change that.

“We have a decent record at Armadale this season but, as I’ve said before, that means nothing on Friday night. Edinburgh have improved since we last faced them and they’ll be fired up as always to get one over us.”

EDINBURGH: Justin Sedgmen, Oskar Polis r/r, Jonatan Grahn, Kye Thomson, Paco Castagna, Victor Palovaara, Mark Parker.

GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Ashton Boughen, Drew Kemp, Leon Flint, Kyle Howarth, Freddy Hodder, Max Perry.

SCB Referee: Michael Breckon
