PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v BERWICK (BSN SERIES)

EDINBURGH welcome back three riders for tonight’s (Friday) BSN Series home clash with Berwick at Armadale.

Captain Paco Castagna, Jonatan Grahn and Victor Palovaara all missed last weekend’s reverse fixture at Shielfield Park where the Bandits secured a narrow 47-43 win.

That leaves Berwick two points behind leaders Glasgow with the Monarchs yet to get off the mark at the halfway stage of the Scottish group.

The home side bring in Matt Marson to fill their vacant space at reserve, whilst Jack Smith makes his debut for the visitors having signed to replace Bastian Borke.

And Bandits boss Stewart Dickson believes semi-final qualification is still possible if his side can pull off an away win this weekend, with their trip to Glasgow coming up on Sunday.

It is over two years since they last triumphed on the road, with that victory coming in the equivalent meeting at Edinburgh in April 2023.

Dickson said: “Realistically we need to win at least one of the BSN meetings – it doesn’t have to be at Edinburgh – and take the aggregate point in the other.

“It’s all about what we do on the night, I’m not overly worried about Edinburgh individually. We are a good side; we are designed to score all the way down the order. Now we have to do it.”

EDINBURGH: Justin Sedgmen, Kye Thomson, Jonatan Grahn, Paco Castagna, Oskar Polis, Victor Palovaara, Matt Marson.

BERWICK: Craig Cook, Danyon Hume, Sam Hagon, Drew Kemp, Peter Kildemand, Dayle Wood, Jack Smith.

SCB Referee: Dave Watters
