PREVIEW: BERWICK v WORKINGTON (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

BERWICK race the final home meeting of their 2025 campaign when they face Workington in the Cab Direct Championship tonight (Saturday).

The sides are scheduled to meet twice this weekend as the Shielfield Park clash is followed by the return at the GT Tyres Arena on Sunday.

Fifth spot in the league table is up for grabs with five points available, and both the Bandits and the Comets have the chance to move above Oxford.

Both sides name their full line-ups with Berwick switching Nick Morris to No.5 with Peter Kildemand going to No.4, whilst a similar alteration for the visitors sees ex-Bandit Jye Etheridge go to No.5 exchanging places with Antti Vuolas.

Bandits boss Stewart Dickson said: “We were hoping for better at the start of the season, but that is not to be.

“But we have found some form in recent weeks and I think we should be able to get at least three points from the weekend – although we are aiming for the lot.

“Our supporters have stuck by us even when we’ve been unable to cross the finishing line in a string of close results, and it would be good to give them something to cheer on the final weekend.”

Comets manager James Denham said: “This year hasn’t always gone the way we’d hoped, and missing out on the play-offs was tough, but I can’t fault the effort and commitment the lads have shown all season.

“They’ve battled hard against strong opposition, and now we’ve got one final weekend to show what we’re about as a team.

“These two matches against Berwick give us the chance to end the year on a positive note, and I know every rider in the side wants to give our fans something to cheer about.”
