PREVIEW: BERWICK v WORKINGTON (Border Trophy)
BERWICK and Workington go into action for the first time this season in tonight’s (Saturday) Border Trophy clash at Shielfield Park.
The Bandits track a much-changed line-up compared to 2023 whilst the Comets are unknown quantities with several riders new to the UK – including female racer Celina Liebmann.
Their return to second tier level was delayed by one night following the postponement of last night’s BSN Series match at Scunthorpe when heavy rain hit the Eddie Wright Raceway just before start time.
Following tonight’s meeting, the Comets will host the Bandits at Northside on Sunday in the second leg.
Berwick manager Stewart Dickson said: “Normally you look at your opponents and work out who’s got a great record at Shielfield, who’s struggled and who’s a bit hit and miss.
“But Workington have three riders new to Britain, never mind Berwick, so we won’t know until the night.
“I don’t see this as a meaningless challenge match. Anything with a cup up for grabs is worth winning.”
BERWICK: Lewis Kerr, Danyon Hume, Jye Etheridge, Drew Kemp, Rory Schlein, Freddy Hodder, Bastian Borke.
WORKINGTON: Craig Cook, Claus Vissing, Antti Vuolas, Tate Zischke, Troy Batchelor, Sam McGurk, Celina Liebmann.
SCB Referee: Graeme Hunter
