PREVIEW: BERWICK v REDCAR (BSN SERIES S/F)

BERWICK owner Jamie Courtney says his side can take inspiration from a recent win over Redcar to produce a huge BSN Series upset tonight (Saturday).

The Bandits trail by 27 points heading into the second leg at Shielfield Park and therefore need to rack up a 59-point total in the return to put out the defending holders.

In the league clash between the sides in August, Berwick were in a depleted state but still came though with a 46-44 win.

Courtney said: “I know some have already written off our chances after what, there’s no denying,

was a poor first leg performance in Cleveland.

“But when it comes down to it, if we can find an extra 13 points on (the previous) performance it is us and not the holders facing Poole in that Final.

“Make no bones about it, coming from six points down to defeat Redcar sent out a message of intent to our opponents. To do that with effectively a three-man team was a huge achievement, on a par with the best Bandits’ performances over the past nine years.

“I believe that the pressure is very much on Redcar and they knew it when they were leaving Shielfield. But talk is cheap, it’s actions we want and not words.”

Berwick name a full strength side and have a 100 per cent home record this season, whilst Redcar bring in Nathan Ablitt for Jake Mulford who is on World Long Track duty.
