PREVIEW: BERWICK v GLASGOW (BSN SERIES)

BERWICK face a Glasgow team packed with Shielfield Park track knowledge in the opening fixture of their BSN Series group tonight (Saturday).

The Bandits impressed in their Border Trophy wins over Workington last weekend but now take on a Tigers side led by Chris Harris, who captained the border outfit in 2022, and his successor as skipper Leon Flint who left his local club over the winter.

Elsewhere in the Glasgow ranks, Paul Starke and Lee Complin are two more ex-Berwick riders whilst youngster Ace Pijper rode for the Bullets in the National Development League.

Bandits manager Stewart Dickson said: “While not being disrespectful to Workington or the Border Trophy, they were useful warm-ups but our season starts here.

“I don’t expect us to score 56 points again this week – but wouldn’t turn it down – but we have the benefit of two meetings under our belts and there were very promising signs last weekend.

“Glasgow come with plenty of track knowledge and that winning streak behind them, but this is a new Bandits side and one which doesn’t carry the scars of previous losses.

“One thing for certain is that Glasgow fans will travel in their hordes and there will be a great atmosphere inside the stadium.”

BERWICK: Lewis Kerr, Danyon Hume, Jye Etheridge, Drew Kemp, Rory Schlein, Freddy Hodder, Bastian Borke.
GLASGOW: Chris Harris, James Pearson, Leon Flint, Paul Starke, Steve Worrall, Lee Complin, Ace Pijper.
