POLIS QUITS MONARCHS
EDINBURGH have been rocked by the departure of Polish racer Oskar Polis who quit the club after their home meeting on Friday.
Polis failed to complete the Monarchs’ Cab Direct Championship match against Poole, withdrawing with a wrist injury after retiring from Heat 7.
Promoter John Campbell said: “Oskar has told us he is walking out on us. He has chosen to ride (on Saturday) in Germany rather than come with the team to Plymouth.
“He didn’t give himself a chance. He was clearly capable of doing well in the UK but he had it in his head that he couldn’t.
“He’s probably the first rider I’ve come across that’s pulled out of a meeting because he didn’t fancy it. Leading a race then giving up!”
Edinburgh have been granted a 28-day facility to operate a guest or rider replacement for Polis whilst they seek a full-time replacement.
