PIRATES WILL BE UP FOR THE CUP

POOLE promoter Dan Ford says his side will be fully focused on starting another run for silverware when they face Scunthorpe in the MAXiCab KO Cup preliminary round.

The two clubs have shared the trophy throughout the 2020s with the Scorpions interrupting the Pirates’ domination when they won the Final in 2023 – although Poole turned the tables in the semi-finals the following year.

Ford said: “Scunthorpe have strengthened with the signing of Josh Pickering, but our focus is firmly on our own performance.

“If we hit our standards over the two legs, we will give ourselves every chance of setting up a mouth-watering tie against Oxford.”
