PIRATES UNDER PRESSURE

POOLE promoter Danny Ford has stressed the ‘must-win’ nature of their Cab Direct Championship play-off encounter on Wednesday.

The Pirates host Edinburgh at Wimborne Road and are under huge pressure after last week’s 45-45 ‘draw’ with Scunthorpe.

Poole won the Super Heat but the Scorpions still took a point and added an emphatic home win over the Monarchs last Friday to maintain control of the group.

Ford said: “I can’t emphasise just how important Wednesday night is. Although we took the win last week, the point that Scunthorpe picked up has put considerable pressure on us now and effectively we need to win our remaining three meetings, starting with the Monarchs.”
