PIRATES IN BSN SERIES COMMAND
POOLE took a huge step towards another BSN Series Final with a thumping 59-31 win over Workington in the first leg of their semi-final.
The Pirates had scored 61 on the previous occasion the Comets visited Dorset and they were not far short of that mark this time around as they continued their defence of the silverware.
Zach Cook scored his first maximum for the club as he was unbeaten from four rides (9+3) whilst heat leaders Tom Brennan and Richard Lawson both scored 13+1 and were denied full houses of their own by Craig Cook in Heat 15 in a strong response to last week’s home defeat by Oxford.
Paul Starke won two races for the visitors and top scored with 7+1, but they face a huge catch-up task in the return fixture.
Said Zach Cook: “This was in contrast to last week. It was an up and down night, but I was making some good starts.
“I wasn’t too good early on, but a good night and solid team performance and really good to bounce back.”
