PIRATES’ DOUBLE TREBLE QUEST

POOLE manager Neil Middeditch says his hunger for major trophies remains undiminished ahead of this week’s Cab Direct Championship Grand Final.

The Pirates host Glasgow in the first leg on Wednesday as they look to defend the title, before the sides meet in the decider at Ashfield 48 hours later.

Last week’s MAXiCab KO Cup success over Redcar took Middleditch to an incredible 32 trophies during his time in charge, and they still have the chance to repeat last season’s Treble over the coming days.

Middleditch said: “It would be nice if we could. People ask me if I get nervous before Finals, and yes I still do. I still get that dry mouth because I’ve still got the passion.

 “We work very hard to be this good, and it’s working out so far, but there are a couple more to go.

“I think continuity is a big thing. If you get an injured rider the demographics of the team change, but walking into the pits every meeting and seeing the same seven riders is great for me.

“We all know how we work together and the team spirit has been really good this year.”
