NEW NAME FOR NORTHSIDE

WORKINGTON’S main team sponsors GT Tyres have extended their backing with a two-year deal for ground naming rights.

The Northside Arena will now become the GT Tyres Arena with the local tyre fitting firm having been on board since the hugely successful relaunch of the sport to the area last season.

Promoter Andrew Bain said: “We are all thrilled that Graeme (Thompson) at GT Tyres has pledged more support to the Comets.

“I’ve said it before, without Graeme and others like him, the return of the Workington Comets would have only been a dream and it all wouldn’t have been possible.

“The support from GT Tyres has been vital to the rebirth of the Comets. Their support has also been key to the development of the facilities at Northside so it seems perfect that the arena is now named the GT Tyres Arena.”
