NEW BOSS FOR BRUMMIES
BIRMINGHAM team manager Laurence Rogers has stepped down on health grounds – although he will stay with the club as General Manger and Director of Speedway.
The Brummies have quickly reached a deal with Stewart Dickson to take charge of team affairs, in an arrangement which will not affect his commitments with Leicester in the Sports Insure Premiership.
Birmingham CEO Nigel Tolley said: “These past few weeks have been very difficult for everyone connected to Brummies.
“It hasn’t been easy on Laurence either, and recent events in particular have taken their toll on his health.
“Laurence has been an important part of helping keep Birmingham Speedway in operation since 2018 and after stepping down as team manager, I was really pleased he agreed to stay with the club in a more day-to-day role and behind the scenes on racenights.
“We are absolutely over the moon to be able to bring in someone like Stewart Dickson; he’s a born winner who is driven by success and after speaking to him on Sunday, he soon made it clear he was up for the challenge and he is just as determined as everyone else to help us turn things around and enjoy a more positive second half of the season.”
