NARROW LEAD FOR TIGERS

GLASGOW were held to a narrow four-point advantage from the first leg of their MAXiCab KO Cup quarter-final against Plymouth, ahead of the return tonight (Saturday) in Devon.

The Tigers won 47-43 at Ashfield with the Gladiators coming back from ten points down in the closing stages of the meeting.

Home boss Cami Brown was left to lament mechanical issues for his side, and a Heat 15 5-1 from Plymouth duo Danny King and Scott Nicholls over Kyle Howarth and Chris Harris means the Gladiators are well placed at the halfway stage of the tie.

Howarth (11+1) and Harris (10) both reached double figures for the hosts, whilst King racked up 14 from five rides for the visitors, dropping his only point to Howarth in Heat 11.

Brown said: “Plymouth are a really good side this season with Ashfield specialists so I knew it was going to be a tough night

“I felt the boys got stuck in. It’s never easy when you’ve got riders missing and have guests in the team.

“But we threw away far too many points with bike problems and we just weren’t starting well enough.

“It’s going to be tough down there and we need a huge performance to progress to the semis.”

For the return fixture at the Coliseum, Glasgow bring in Lewis Kerr and Kyle Newman to guest for Leon Flint and Mario Hausl who are away on Speedway Euro Championship duty.

PLYMOUTH: Danny King, Joe Thompson, Anze Grmek R/R, Ben Barker, Scott Nicholls, Daniel Klima, Tom Spencer.

GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Kyle Newman, Lewis Kerr, Kevin Juhl Pedersen, Kyle Howarth, Sam Hagon, Freddy Hodder.

SCB Referee: Simon Humphrey-Kennett
