MPT: HOME FORTRESS REQUIRED

SCUNTHORPE No.1 Michael Palm Toft says keeping their home venue “a fortress” will be key for the remainder of the season.

The Scorpions became the first team in 2024 to win a Cab Direct Championship league match against Poole inside the regular 15 heats on Friday, when they took a 48-42 victory.

They had also put in an improved performance at Wimborne Road in midweek despite an uncharacteristic failure to score from the Dane.

Palm Toft, who bounced back with 13 on Friday, said: “It’s nice to get one over Poole.

“We were confident that we could, but you’ve still got to put the team performance together to do that. We also weren’t a long way behind on aggregate, which is good.

“The big thing we needed to do was to win the meeting as a team and beat Poole, and we did that. We want to have this track as a home track fortress for the rest of the season.”
