MONARCHS STRIKE TOP FORM
EDINBURGH powered to a 56-34 win over Scunthorpe at Armadale with Justin Sedgmen and Josh Pickering both scoring paid maximums.
The Scorpions, who had the chance to go top of the Cab Direct Championship, held things close in the early stages and there were just six points in it after Heat 8.
But the second half of the meeting was dominated by the Monarchs with three 5-1s and two 4-2s to give them a comfortable victory.
Sedgmen (14+1) and Pickering (13+2) both turned in unbeaten displays and combined for maximum advantages in Heats 13 and 15, whilst Kye Thomson (9+1) and Paco Castagna (9) offered strong support. Jake Allen top-scored for the Scorpions with nine.
Sedgmen said: “We needed a good job from all of us and we got it. When you look down our side and the way we are riding, we should be winning with a bit to spare at home.
“The team is working well, I’m quite quiet and like to do my own thing but I will help where I can, and Paco does an excellent job of getting everyone fired up.
“We should have a good chance for the aggregate point next week but Scunthorpe are really dialled in at home, so it may be a different story!”
