MONARCHS LIFT SCOTTISH CUP

EDINBURGH regained the Scottish Cup with a 47-42 win over Glasgow to complete an 11-point overall aggregate win.

The result also ensure that the Monarchs remained unbeaten over their fierce rivals throughout the 2026 season, with three wins and three draws.

Kye Thomson top-scored with 12 points and further good news for the hosts came with the news that he will remain with the club next season, whilst reserve Jordy Loftus impressed with 8+3.

Guest Nick Morris (11), skipper Chris Harris (10+2) and Leon Flint (10) all reached double figures for the Tigers.

Edinburgh manager Alex Harkess said: “The night went very well considering the conditions, and it was an excellent way to finish.

“As the night went on gating became more important. In the big races we gated well. Glasgow threatened to come back at us but we did the job. It was nice to get the 5-1 in heat 14 and take the pressure off.”

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “Armadale is a really hard place to go at the best of times, but the conditions were tricky in the wet.

“We started slowly and the Monarchs took control but we fought back really well and were only one point down on the night with two races to go.

“It was the story of our season really, too many passengers once again. I’m hugely disappointed to end the season in that manner.”
