KING CHARLES BACK IN STYLE

REDCAR skipper Charles Wright made a hugely successful return as his side withstood a Workington comeback to edge out the Comets 46-44 at the Ecco Arena.

Wright superbly overtook both Jonas Jeppesen and Troy Batchelor in Heat 13 to maintain an eight-point lead, but the visitors hit back with a 5-1 from Tate Zischke and Drew Kemp in the next race.

They then looked set to salvage a draw when they led Heat 15, only for Wright to split Kemp and Jeppesen to secure the home win.

Reserve Jody Scott was also key to the Bears’ victory as he piled up 15 from seven rides at reserve with Wright scoring 12+1. Recent Comets signing Kemp impressed with 15+1 from six and Jeppesen notched 10+1.
