KENNETT JOINS CHEETAHS

OXFORD have announced the signing of Edward Kennett as a 28-day replacement for Erik Riss, with the former British No.2 set to make his debut against Redcar on Wednesday.

Kennett, whose return to official competition with top-flight Ipswich was confirmed last week, becomes the third family member to have strong links with the Cowley outfit, with his uncle Gordon having spent four seasons with the club in the early 1970s.

Riss has been sidelined for the majority of the 2026 campaign so far, having suffered a recurrence of the vision issues which have plagued him in recent years.

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “Erik’s progress to full health is slow and very frustrating for both parties.

“After much discussion, Erik is on board with our decision as he wants the best for us as a club, and it gives him more time to recover.

“Edward’s decision to make a comeback to racing is no surprise to me. We are very excited to give him the opportunity to join Oxford Cheetahs, and we know he will give his best efforts to the club.”
