GROUPS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS

CAB Direct Championship leaders Poole have elected to face Scunthorpe and Edinburgh in their play-off group.

The Pirates were confirmed at the top of the table when Oxford, the only team who could have overhauled them, were beaten at Glasgow on Friday.

That evening’s fixtures also saw the Monarchs confirmed in sixth place after their home wins over Plymouth and closest challengers Birmingham.

Group B of the play-offs will feature Oxford, Glasgow and Redcar, with the winners of each group progressing to the Grand Final.

It can also be confirmed that the following fixtures will take place this Wednesday, September 13:

GROUP A: Poole v Scunthorpe 7.30
GROUP B: Oxford v Glasgow 7.30

The remaining fixtures are expected to be confirmed over the next 24 hours.

BSPL Chairman Rob Godfrey said: “This promises to be a hugely exciting battle for the league championship over the coming weeks, and I’m sure there’s some great speedway to come.

“With my Scunthorpe hat on of course I’m optimistic about our own chances, and Wednesday is going to be a big night at Poole – but the other group is also very hard to call and it’s going to be very competitive.”
